Another quick update- the cruise last weekend went well, about 22 VWs started the cruise with more joining us at the park.  Tuned Perfection customer “mikejoe” did a video of the cruise and you can see it here.  Thanks Mike!!  Your car looks awesome by the way.  Mike’s car was also in the Tuned Perfection display at the June Jitterbug last June.  Pics from the cruise can be seen here.

Picked up a 1960 beetle sedan tonight out of Ancaster.  Pics to be posted soon.  Don’t know whether to part it out to fix the ‘vert or to put it back together and sell it.  It’s a solid car.

Finally, I am now a dealer for Scat.  Let me know what you need so I can price it out for you.

Just a quick update to let everyone know that although it is late in the season, I am doing a fall cruise.  Here are the details as of today:

Start from the Tim Hortons in the Longo’s plaza at the corner of Walker’s Line and Dundas Street in Burlington on October 5, 2008.  Meet up at 10:15am for a 10:45am departure.  We will head north to the Belwood Lake Conservation area just outside of Fergus.  Cruise will take about 1hr and 15 minutes.  Bring your lunch and lawn chairs.  Open to all air cooled, water cooled VWs and Porsches.  Flyer for the event here.

As mentioned in the update below, I am now an authorized dealer for TMI interior products.  Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail to quote on your interior needs.

A donor car has been found for the rebuild of the ’59 vert this winter.  A shop has also been found to handle the paint and body work on the car.  I have no doubt the quality of the new car will be superior to the old one.  Stay tuned…..

As I’m sure you can tell if you follow along with this site, it’s been a LONG time since I updated it.  LOTS of news now!!

Towards the end of May I picked up John Bullen’s ’55 oval ragtop to get some work done.  Plan was simply a 4” narrowed beam from Airkewld and a pro-street trans from Rancho.  As the project moved forward, it became apparent that a few other things needed to be addressed on the vehicle due to safety concerns and John finally picked up his car on August 1 and drove it home from my shop without issue.  Pics of the work performed can be seen here.

During the time John’s car was in the shop I was also working on getting my ’59 vert ready for the June Jitterbug.  It was completed enough to bring to the show where it placed first in class.  This car was built for my wife to enjoy, and I finally got it road worthy on the weekend of August 2.  Then on the way to a local cruise night, I was rear-ended in traffic and the car’s future is now up in the air.  Hopefully it will be rebuilt this winter, either the car itself, or by using a donor body on the ’59 pan.  Pics of that car here.

The notchback I bought from Florida placed first in class and won best interior air-cooled and best of show air-cooled at the June Jitterbug.  It also won first in class at the Kitchener Bug-Out.  Thanks to Pete Sipsis for driving the car to Niagara Falls for me!

Pics from the June Jitterbug are here.

NEW PRODUCTS!!!

-I am now a dealer for Wiring Works.  The gentleman who owns the company has no web-site, but he is well known for producing the best wiring harnesses for VWs.  If you need one let me know, shipping is quick and my prices cannot be beat!

-I am working on becoming a dealer for TMI.  If you need me to price something out please let me know.

-I have deck-lid props in stock.  These go at the bottom of your decklid on ’64 and earlier beetles to increase clearance with dual carbs, or for increased cooling.  Here is my ad on the Samba.

-I also have new t-shirts for sale.  Here is the ad for them.

I have changed the description of the work I do on the contents page.  I no longer work on VWs, but will continue to sell parts.  My expanded family is my first priority, and my time will be devoted to them.  That, and rebuilding the ‘vert…  And maybe starting on a bus???

All for now.

Looks like this site is destined to be updated every couple of months…  Well, lots of news to report.

The 1968 Bug, the first car I built, has been resold.  Marc St.Jean from Pembrooke is the proud new owner and I’m sure he will enjoy cruising in it this summer.  Thanks Marc, and have fun!

John Bullen’s ’55 oval rag will be in the shop this month for a new Rancho freeway flyer trans, 4” Airkewld narrowed front beam, CB dropped spindles, and a few other goodies.  Look forward to that.

I am the proud owner of Tim Hesse’s notchback from Florida.  I’ll be making a few very subtle changes on it and enjoying it as much as possible this summer.

Tranny is out of the ’59 vert to get rebuilt, and the 2110 is ready to go in.  Interior is out to be put together, and air tank is getting welded up.  Hope to get it done for the June Jitterbug.

I have a new addition to my family- Olivia Rose Stogren was born April 23, 2008.  Mom and baby are fine.

I hope to have another update before the big show in Niagara Falls.  If not, see you there!

March 10, 2008

Well, been awhile since last updated this site.  Been busy in the new place fixing it up.

The big news is that the ’56 has been sold and delivered to the new owner.  Same gentleman that bought my ’68 2 years ago.  Got the ’68 back as seen on the index page currently, and it is for sale again.  A very nice car for a very good price.  The 2110 CB built motor will be going in the ’59 vert.

Very soon there will be a current vehicles for sale page here.  Featured will be a ’68 Bug, a ’65 Bug with Type 4 engine, and a ’65 VW deluxe micro-bus with air ride and a 2332cc engine (pics here).  Stay tuned.

With today’s update you will find that the 2008 Events page has been updated.

Tuned Perfection now has chrome deck lid props in stock.  Use these when you don’t use your stock spring for holding the deck lid open, or is the spring is weak.  Reason for not using your stock spring can include it was too hard to put back on, you run deck lid stand offs at the top, or run quick release pins to easily remove your deck lid.  These props are $26 shipped within Canada or the continental USA.

Tuned Perfection is moving!  In mid February we will be relocating from Oakville to Waterdown, which is north-west of Hamilton.

Focus over the last while has been on non-VW stuff, but VWs have still been getting their share of the attention.  The ’59 vert has most windows in and had the fuel line cleaned out due to fuel delivery problems.  Also added a fuel gauge.  Pics are always updated here.   The ’56 has received a new Limited Slip differential from Peloquins.  Very nice unit and replacement of the super diff meant removing the engine and transaxle from the car.

Spring sales are starting to come in so let us know what parts you need to get your VWs ready for the summer!
