Brief update.
The ’59 vert is
alive and goes and stops. Still needs
some tuning and door and quarter glass installed, carpet, etc. But at least I was able to drive it around
the neighbourhood on the last warm, sunny day of the year. I doubt we will see mid 70’s again in
2007! For a gallery of pics click here. New vehicle coming to the TP stable. Stay tuned for details.
The cruise yesterday was an overwhelming success. Thanks to the watercooled folks for boosting the attendance numbers to 37 VWs. This year we had 2 Pumas, a Porsche, a Porsche replicar, Jettas, Golfs, Rabbits, a Scirocco, 2 Ghias, a Type 2 and a handful of buggies. Will there be any Type 3’s next year??? hhhmmmmm Cars we had not seen out in awhile included BTLJUS which turned quite a few heads. Alex Barrie polished up his car for the yearly event and I didn’t recognize it! Dave Anderson drove his superb ’67. And a few folks with very busy schedules came out at least for the trip up to Guelph and I REALLY appreciate it. I look forward to next year with a brand new route and new destination to match. Click here for pics from the cruise. If you have any more please e-mail them to me.
Progress on my
’59 vert? It’s at the upholstery shop
now to have the top done. And time
ticks by….. Here are 2 pics before it
left the TP shop.

Busy, busy, busy. Working on the ’59 vert to get it done ASAP. For the Bugfest would be ideal, but it’s 2 weeks away and I don’t think it’s gonna happen. 2 steps forward and 1 step back on everything I touch. You know the feeling…
Loaded a page of pics from the June Jitterbug in June. Click here.
Ben’s buggy won
his class and best interior at the June Jitterbug. Here is a pic of him and his car:

Ben will be at
the Bugfest in Manchester August 19, and you need to check out the cleanliness
of the car and the one-offs. It’s
incredible and I am glad to be his preferred shop to wrench on the car. He’s from Montreal too!
I have 2 cars
lined up for the dyno on August 18- my ’56 and Marc Auger’s ’61 with a 1776
from CB Performance. See the car here.
As stated on the
index page, Tuned Perfection is the sponsor of Dyno Day in Pickering on August
18, 2007 as part of the Durham Region Bugfest.
Click here to go to their
site. I will have my ’56 at the event,
Ben will be driving from Oakville to Pickering, then home to Montreal with his
buggy, and I’m sure some more folks will caravan out with us. E-mail me at greg@tunedperfection.com if you want
to head out from Oakville with us 7:45am.
Finally, the
tentative date for the 2nd annual End of Summer Cruise from
Burlington to Guelph is September 23rd, 2007. How fitting- it’s the first day of Autumn!
Too busy in the shop to update much. Been working like a MOFO on Ben’s buggy to get it ready for the weekend. And getting the inventory together and priced to sell on Sunday. Make sure you stop by the Tuned Perfection booth to say hi. This year it will be bigger and better than ever!!!

Well, it was a
pretty hectic few weeks there before Georgia, but I got through it. Pete and I made the trip down and back
unscathed and brought home a few awards.
On the Saturday event in Peachtree City (dyno day) I won “Top Dog”
making 264hp to the wheels. Then on
Sunday at the races and show in Reynolds I came in 4th in the Street
Challenge class, won my class in the show, Best Interior, Best Engine, and Best
of Show. The people I met and saw again
are a great bunch of folks and Pete and I had a great time. Click here for pics
from the show. Now it’s time to focus on the ’59 vert and getting the event
together on the 23rd of June at Toronto Motorsports Park.
Click here for video of my 1st
run on the chassis dyno in Peachtree City, Georgia.
Click here for video of my 3rd
pass at the track in Reynolds, Georgia.
3 weeks away
from the Silver Dollar
Showdown in Georgia! Click here for the t-shirt design including the
Tuned Perfection logo. I have booked my
hotel in Peachtree City (Friday night) for the dyno day Saturday and in Perry
for Saturday and Sunday nights.
Peachtree City is the Best Western at 770-632-9700 and Perry is the
Holiday Inn at 478-987-3313.
And the BIG, BIG, BIG news is that June 23 is “VW Day” at Toronto
Motorsports Park. That is the day
before the June Jitterbug car show in Niagara Falls. More details to follow, but to see it in print on the TMP website
It has been a
busy month. Lots of orders coming
through the door for guys wanting to get their cars (and vans) together for the
spring. When will that be I wonder with
the snow falling outside right now….
The Silver
Dollar Showdown is coming up soon. My
car made the page for the event. Plan is to be in the 11’s in the Street
Challenge and to lay down in excess of 210hp on the chassis dyno. Be there to see me do it. The BRE nitro dragster is quite a sight as
well.
The Porshe
replicar is almost done. Engine is in
and fired up. Need to check the jets
and timing, then it is on its way back to the owner. Then attention turns to prepping the ’56 for Georgia and Ben’s
buggy. Then onto Joe’s 66 vert and my
own ’59 vert (finally).
Here is the page (at last) of pics from my trip to Kip
Zimmerman’s shop in Bradenton, Florida.
Here’s some pics of the replicar engine.

Brief update. Click here for my pics from the Sonic cruise night in Orlando, Florida. Pics from Kip Zimmerman’s shop will be up soon. We went to Florida for a few days and had a great time. Didn’t want to leave!! So cool that these guys can enjoy their VWs all year ‘round.
Took a few hours
today to drive to Napanee. I was told
of a notch for sale for pretty cheap, and when I talked to the fellow on the
phone he told me he had some VW stuff left but he was cleaning house. He had some split stuff so I was curious to
see what he had. Click here to see what I brought home.
Have worked on
the Porsche replicar a bit. Got the
engine bay looking nice, as well as the engine itself. Won’t be long now. Here is a shot of work in progress on the engine.

Cleaned it up, new stainless steel pushrod tubes, deep sump, valve covers. Will post a pic before it goes back into the car.
