This year I am doing my 4th annual fall cruise from Burlington to the Rockwood Conservation Area on Sunday, September 27. Here are the details as it sits:
10am start meeting up at the Longos plaza at the corner of Dundas and Walker's Line. It is on the South-West corner. There is a Tim Horton's facing Dundas at the north side of the mall. Meet near there.
10:30am leave the plaza on the cruise. We head north on Walker's Line.
noonish arrive at the conservation area. There is an admission fee of $4.25 per person. I can get this reduced to $3.25 per person if I get 50 people through the gate. Therefore I will be collecting $4.25 per person at the mall before we leave. I will give each person 2 tickets. One ticket gets handed in to the front gate at the park. If we get 50 people through the gate, I will owe each person $1. Simply come to me at the park, give me your other ticket, and I will give you $1. That is the plan as I sit here at midnight anyways. That could change.
There is a place in Rockwood to grab lunch, but I recommend you bring your own picnic lunch. We will hang at the park for about an hour, and those that want to caravan on the drive back can join in at that time.
Here is a link to the park: http://www.grandriver.ca/index/document.cfm?Sec=27&Sub1=130&sub2=0
We cruised up there last fall and there are definitely some nice sights to see. Lots of folks were taking pictures of the beautiful scenery.
Air-cooled and water-cooled VWs are welcome. If yours is broken, but you would like to join us, feel free. But if you are driving a make other than VW please follow the VWs on the cruise.
Weather does not look too bad for this Sunday. The cruise is definitely on!!!! So meet up at the north/west corner of the Longos mall for 10ish (10 to 10:30) on Sunday and we will head out by 11.
See you there!
EDIT, EDIT, EDIT- this one Saturday night Oct 2
Weather right now is calling for increased chance of showers later in the day, so let's try to head out by 10:30 from the mall so we can get the cruise in and home done with no rain if possible.

I just got off the phone from one of the guys from Niagara, and we were both wondering what to do...
I said that if I were looking to go for a drive in the vert, today would not be the day. So we left it that let's postpone the cruise to next weekend.
SO............ THE CRUISE IS NOT HAPPENING TODAY. Let's hope for sunny skies next Sunday. Sorry about the delay.....

I just did a pre-run of the cruise, and got some good questions.
As for the cruise tomorrow, let's run with this.....
If it is raining when you are heading out in the morning, stay home. If not, come on out to Burlington. Whatever you are comfortable with.
I'll look outside again at 7am.

Holy cow!!! So NOW they say 40% chance of rain in the morning, then mix of sun and cloud. I'll keep updating this, but here is what I am thinking....
If it is raining when everyone is ready to head out tomorrow, stay home. Or drive in the rain out to Burlington, and we'll play it by ear. I prefer not to drive in the rain, but I'll bring my Jetta if it's raining to Burlington just to see who shows up. I don't know..... What do you all think????

My how things change overnight!
Now the weather reports show a 90% chance of rain for Sunday. Not good.
Please stay tuned for updates, but at this rate the cruise will be cancelled for tomorrow and rescheduled for next Sunday, October 4.

Environment Canada says Cloudy with a high of 23 on Sunday. Works for me. At this point the cruise is very much ON!!!!

As of tonight, Thursday, they are calling for a 40% chance of showers on Sunday. So, 60% chance of no showers. I can live with that. Stay tuned here for updates, but as of right now we are ON for Sunday. If it does rain on Sunday, the event will be moved to October 4.
